Sheffield City Council, said that the cabs that have been using the cameras have reported a drop in violent and abusive incidents from an average of one in every seven fares to one in 100 fares - Wow!.
A Council spokesman commented: "All the drivers who have got the cameras are delighted. They have said it's made a massive difference. "Some passengers have also said they feel safer in a taxi which has cameras fitted, so it is not just the drivers who benefit."
The P-Vision Miniature 12V DVR With Motion Detection & Removable SD Card:
This tiny palm-sized DVR can be used in more covert situations than the larger standard sized DVR's. It provides one channel and combines great quality digital recording with advanced video motion detection.
Including A Miniature IR (Infra Red) Night Vision Camera:
This package includes one very small IR (infra red) night vision camera that will require a permanent or iginition live 12V feed to the mini camera. The video signal cable from your camera can then be connected directly to your SDDVR which is supplied with a cigarette lighter cable (or can be hard wired) and hey presto! your up and running. Camera incorporates led indicators to enhance the pictures in various light conditions, the LED's will light up at night time as a warning to your customers that they are being recorded.
Integrated Motion Detection
Ensures recording only when motion is detected, which saves memory space and your valuable time when reviewing the captured video. Records up to 8 frames every second (adjustable) when triggered by an occurrence.
Download Footage
If you have a memory card reader, simply connect this to any PC and whenever you want to view or download the video, just remove the SD card from the CCTV DVR, insert it into the MMC reader and download the images.
Upgrades
If you wish to upgrade the basic system to include an (IR) infra red night vision camera and or a replacement sunvisor or rearview mirror monitor for instant playback, we have provided these as add on accessories at the bottom of the page.

Upgrade - Replacement Mirror With 6" TFT/LCD Monitor Screen:-
If you wish to add on a replacement rearview mirror monitor with a built-in 6" LCD/TFT screen for instant live video playback (handbrake feed recommended to prevent watching whilst driving), we have provided this as an add on accessory at the bottom of the page. Our monitor has two video inputs allowing either a DVD or Freeview TV Tuner to be added for stationary driver entertainment. As your customers get into your vehicle, they will see live pictures of themselves and this will act as an obvious deterrent.
