There are numerous twin DVD replacement headrests products available in the UK, Europe and the Worldwide marketplace so your choice of equipment if  you are considering installing these types of products for the children is vast.

Recently however, manufacturers of high-end vehicles such as BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Range Rover & VW have introduced “active headrest safety restraint systems” (SRS) which are designed to help alleviate whiplash in the event of an accident and as result of this, you can no longer install the majority of DVD replacement headrests as you will lose this very important safety feature and probably affect your manufacturers warranty.

Active SRS Headrests – The Benefits

Some of the biggest injury risks in an impact situation result from the sudden, jerking movement of the head and neck. The Active Headrests help reduce these risks by supporting the head at exactly that moment when it’s most needed. Within 20 milliseconds of an impact being detected, the Active Headrests are pushed forward to reduce sudden head movement, gently helping to prevent neck injury.

As you will see from the picture below, Parkmyauto Ltd can provide an alternative solution to the universal replacement DVD headrests by building and attaching an almost perfect factory fit Pod that will match your leather interior and colour and which incorporates two professional fit 7″ TFT LCD high quality monitors.  As we are utilising your existing vehicles headrests the SRS active headrest safety restraint feature is not compromised and will operate as normal.

As you can see on this vehicle, Parkmyauto Ltd (PKMY) supplied and installed professional fit Headrest Monitors For this S Class S350 2010 Mercedes in Essex.

We built 2 headrest pods in matching leather surround (as if it came from the factory) and in each pod we installed a 7″ TFT headrest screen / monitor. The screens have two video inputs to allow you to attach two AV sources ie, TV tuner and DVD changer. They come with 2 x RF (Radio Frequency) wireless headphones channel A & B. Price on the Pro Fit Headrest Kit including headphones and monitors excluding AV sources and before installation is £790.00.

The customer supplied his own PS3 for this system as it is a dual source item (DVD and games playback). We were required to supply a PS3 power inverter to enable the PS3 to work in a 12V set up (Cost on this was £165.00). As you will see from the picture below the PS3 was a perfect fit in one of the boot compartments and as the PS3 controllers are wireless, all cables were completely hidden out of sight.

Price For System

The price of the products for this system was £990.00 including Vat. We also supplied an FM modulator to have the sound put through the vehicle speakers via the FM radio. Installation was carried out at the customers home in Essex and cost £160 - total cost £1,150.

DVD Changer

When you are considering what AV source to utilise with your professional fit headrest monitors,  you could consider a 6 disc DVD changer (say in the boot). This comes with a remote eye and remote control, the DVD changer and the remote eye cable will be hidden out of sight, the remote eye receiver will be placed say on the A pillar or above the rear view mirror, aim the remote control at this and you can control the DVD changer accordingly.

Slimline PS2

If you have a slimline PS2, we can supply you with a PS2 power inverter and wireless games controllers, giving you the facility of playing games and also watching DVD’s as this is a two source AV unit.

Digital TV Tuner

With all Governments across the world switching our TV signals to digital free view, you may want to install an in-car digital free to view TV tuner giving the kids all of the free view channels that are available in the house.

Two x AV Inputs

Our professional fit headrest monitors provide 2 x AV inputs so if you install a DVD changer and a PS2, these can be fed into both monitors allowing one child to watch and listen to a DVD on one monitor and the other to play games on their monitor. If the kids want to watch and listen to the same DVD or both play games at the same time this will be set up accordingly. If you want to go that one step further and install a third AV source then we would require to install an AV switching box which will then give you the ability to have different AV sources on different screens as you require.
